A form is a transaction with a human in the loop. The browser can provide labels, native validation, keyboard submission, and a real request even if application JavaScript fails to load. Enhancements such as asynchronous checks, autosave, and file progress add more states, not fewer. These lessons follow a case-intake form from the submitter button through server validation, delayed field checks, local draft recovery, and upload completion. Each step distinguishes a on-device preview from a server-accepted record.
Topics in this track
- Native Form Submission and Progressive Enhancement — Keep a working server submission path, then add client behavior without bypassing browser form rules.
- Asynchronous Field Validation Races — Ignore obsolete field responses and keep server validation authoritative at final submission.
- Autosave, Draft Recovery, and Conflicts — Persist edits without disguising local storage as a confirmed server save.
- Multipart Upload Progress and Retry Boundaries — Separate file selection, transfer, and server acceptance; retry from a defined upload protocol.
